Several Crashes Reported Amid Wintry Weather: Fairfield Police

Police in Fairfield are asking drivers to stay off the roads.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Several crashes were reported Sunday afternoon, according to a Facebook post from Fairfield police published about 4 p.m. Sunday as snow fell across Connecticut.

"Several vehicle crashes have already been reported," the post said. "Please remember to take it slow while driving in ice and snow. If possible, we ask that you remain off the roads to allow crews to treat and clear Fairfield’s 271+ miles of roadways."

Fairfield is projected to see a mix of rain, snow, freezing rain and sleet into Sunday evening, followed by rain overnight, a mix of rain and snow Monday, and snow Monday night and possibly into Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.

The area is under a Hazardous Weather Outlook. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect through 7 a.m. Tuesday and a Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect through 5 a.m. Monday.
