Special Weather Statement Issued For Fairfield/New Haven County
BREAKING: Severe weather is expected soon.

UPDATE, 6 P.M. The National Weather Service says a strong thunderstorm will impact central Fairfield and New Haven counties soon, according to a Special Weather Statement just released. A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has already been issued for Fairfield County until 6:15 p.m.
The NWS says, "At 547 PM EDT, a strong thunderstorm was located over Shelton, moving northeast at 30 mph. Wind gusts up to 50 mph are possible with this storm.

New Haven, Meriden, Milford, Wallingford, Shelton, Naugatuck, Guilford, Durham, Hamden, Stratford, Trumbull, Cheshire, Branford, North Haven and Monroe.

"Heavy rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may cause localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 900 PM EDT for southern Connecticut.

Original story posted at 5:15 p.m.: The National Weather Service in Upton NY has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Fairfield County until 6:15 p.m.
"At 512 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over New Canaan, moving east at 25 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail. IMPACT...Expect damage to trees and power lines."
