Shoplifter Tries To Run Over Fairfield Cop: Police
A shoplifter attempting to flee police aimed for an officer and instead hit his vehicle, according to law enforcement.
FAIRFIELD, CT — A shoplifting suspect tried to run over an officer with her car while attempting to flee the scene, according to Fairfield police. The incident occurred at 1:47 p.m. Tuesday, when an officer witnessed a woman shoplifting at Bob's footwear and clothing store at 889 Post Road, Capt. Robert Kalamaras said.
As the suspect was driving away from the store, the officer left his vehicle to try to make a traffic stop, and the woman attempted to hit him with her car, according to Kalamaras. The officer moved out of the way and was not injured, but the suspect did hit his police vehicle.
The suspect was described by law enforcement as a hispanic woman with dark hair and a hat driving a silver Honda Accord. Detectives are following up on the incident, Kalamaras said.
