Spic & Span Market- The Gem of Southport

This afternoon, after finishing up one of the last days of school, my brother and I stayed close to our small, quaint hometown of Southport, CT to enjoy a delightful selection of sandwiches from Spic & Span Market (spicandspanmarket.com).

As I have mentioned in previous articles; in my opinion Spic & Span is the hidden gem of Fairfield County.

The tiny market is everything anyone could ask for when it comes to food. They have a small wing of the space dedicated to meat and butchery, as well as the world-famous sandwich department, and of course, the regular supermarket items.

Every time that I eat at Spic & Span I get the same thing: A B.L.T on white bread un-toasted, with either honey mustard or mayo.

Most every time I order this delicacy, the friendly, accommodating staff at Spic & Span come through in the most delicious way. The bacon is always perfectly crisp, and crunchy. The tomatoes and lettuce are always vivid, bright, and are at the peak of their freshness.

In addition to the delightful toppings, the sandwich is slathered with just the right amount of spicy, light, golden honey mustard, or airy, snow-white mayo. All of these goodies are squeezed in between soft, pillow-like white bread, and served with the trusty, tangy pickle.

Spic & Span doesn’t only serve B.L.T’s, an assortment of sandwiches and fantastic choices for food can be found on the large, white board in front of the ordering counter.

Every time I go to this Southport Treasure, I see at least one person I know. This  is a result of Spic & Span being the social hub of our village. Everybody loves it! Spic & Span has been around for generations, and each year it has risen both in popularity and in the hearts of their loyal customers.

Overall, this Southport favorite should be at the top of anybody’s list for sandwiches, or other lunch foods. I would recommend the trip anytime! I would give it ZZZZ- 4 Z’s- Yum.
