State Champion Swim Team Holding Tryouts
Swim 70 is holding swim tryouts for their competitive and recreational teams
After watching the Olympics does your child want to become the next Michael Phelps, Simone Manuel or Katie Ledecky? If so, you will want to have your kid try out at Swim Seventy - an Olympic-sized pool facility that has great youth competitive and recreation swim teams. Try outs begin this week!
Swim Seventy is a Norwalk-based swim club, but swimmers come from all over Fairfield County, including Westport, Fairfield, Wilton, Weston, New Canaan and Stamford. This summer, Swim Seventy hosted Rio Olympic gold-medal winner Sun Hang for his Olympic preparations.
"Despite only being two years old, our youth competitive team has been very successful. Our age group swimmers placed first in the state in the CT Short Course Championships this past March. This summer, we had the largest group of swimmers in Fairfield County representing Team Connecticut in the prestigious Eastern Zone Championships," said Head Coach Mark Sedlak. "Two of our team relays are ranked in the top 20 in the country, and our 13-14 year old girls hold all five of the short course relays records in CT," chimed in Head Age Group Coach Betsy Matheney. Additionally, twenty-eight swimmers are ranked in the Top 16 in the state with three ranked in first.

Not ready for a competitive team? No problem - Swim 70 has a great recreational team too. But whether you are dedicated or dabbling, all swimmers received the same top-notch coaching.
After try-outs, swimmers are placed in groups based on both age and ability with the goal of improving stroke technique, endurance and sportsmanship. The team aspect is very important to Swim Seventy coaches," stated Coach Dave Fine, "We want our athletes to swim smart and swim fast, but also have a lot of fun practicing and competing with their teammates."
