Once again, stealth yarn bombers have struck in Fairfield, however, this time it was a collaborative charity knitting project.
Yarn bombing is a stealth mission for many knitters. Anything can be bombed with an explosion of color and texture. Yarn bombing is a huge trend in cities, big and small. It’s usually done anonymously, but in Fairfield the culprits have been identified.

The Fairfield Public Library’s knitting community (Purls of Wisdom Knitting Group and Library staff) hand knit, crocheted and sewed close to 100 scarves to donate to the Scarf Project.
Each scarf has a removable tag tied attached that says, “Need a scarf, Please take a scarf. Hand made with love.”
February is known as the month of love and as temperatures drop across Connecticut the group wants to show their love for the Fairfield community. Everyone deserves to be warm when the weather gets cold.
Please take a handmade scarf, if you need to banish the cold or you need a little love. Perhaps even seeing a scarf-bombed corner might cheer up someone and make a difference as well. We hoped all scarves would find a new home and by Monday morning at 8:30 am, only about 12 scarves remained.
Purls of Wisdom Knitting Group meets weekly on Thursdays at the Fairfield Woods Branch Library from 10 a.m. until 12 noon.
Knitters and crocheters of all skill levels come together to work on individual projects, community projects and friendships are knit together each week. Please think about joining the group.
