Storefront For Lease In Downtown Fairfield; Plan For Cafe Dropped
A European-style cafe was planned for the site, but the team behind the idea decided to instead pursue a pizzeria concept in the Brick Walk.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A centrally located storefront in downtown Fairfield is in need of a tenant after plans for a European-style cafe in the space did not come to fruition.
Café Monaco was expected to open in summer 2021 at 11 Unquowa Road — the former home of Fresh Flower Bar, located next to the Sacred Heart University Community Theatre — but the site is now for lease, Fairfield Community and Economic Development Director Mark Barnhart said earlier this month.
The team behind Café Monaco decided instead to pursue a pizzeria concept in the Brick Walk, according to Barnhart. RGR Hospitality LLC intends to open an eatery called Sophie’s Pizza & Bar that specializes in thin-crust pizza and sliced meats at 1275 Post Road, in the spaces previously occupied by Brick + Wood and Intrigue Salon. RGR also owns and operates Molto, Malibu and The Sinclair.
