Summer’s Gone. Ticks Aren’t.

Your lawn needs you now more than ever.

Fairfield, CT - (Sept. 27, 2019) - Two things to remember when summer ends: The ticks aren't gone, and next year's lush lawn starts now.

It’s not beach weather, but it doesn’t mean the ticks aren’t out. Ticks, particularly the ones carrying Lyme and other diseases, haven’t died off with . In fact, even when it goes below 30 degrees, ticks hibernate and come right back out when the weather is warmer.

Joe Neverdousky, owner of Fairfield Tick Control, reminds homeowners to stay vigilant on protecting themselves, their families and pets from the dangers of tick bites throughout the fall and into winter. “A lot of people think it’s safe and they get complacent about checking for ticks. However, ticks are hearty insects and they continue to prowl yards through October, November and even December. In fact, after it drops below freezing, ticks hibernate, and they’ll come back in greater number in the Spring.”

Fall should one of the busiest times of year for lawn care

After a long, dry, hot summer, in addition to continued tick spraying, Fall is also the best time for reseeding and repairing the damage of summer heat and outdoor activities. “It’s much more difficult and more expensive to bring your lawn back to its thick, lush green state if you wait to take any action until Spring. A little bit of effort now, minimizes the amount of time you’ll spend on maintenance next year,” Neverdousky informed.

Fall is THE best time to plant. . “Summer did some damage and it’s prone to allowing a lot of weeds to get started and spread. Those weeds will sprout first next year and they’ll strangle the fresh grass. Stopping those weeds in Fall and reseeding with fresh grass can make next year’s lawn amazing.”

If anyone is unsure about their landscape, Neverdousky offers free consultation to assess your yard and offer tips that you can implement yourself or affordable services that might supplement your efforts.

“The goal is for a safe, healthy, lush lawn. Protect yourself now and add a little prep for next year too. As the leaves Fall you can also mulch some and it’ll help as fertilizer for the new seeding,. It all works together for easier long term lawn care,” Neverdousky explained.
