Suspect — On Bicycle — Accused Of Breaking Into Cars In Fairfield: PD
The suspect, a Bridgeport resident, had a firearm on him at the time of the arrest.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A 21-year-old Bridgeport man was arrested early Thursday after Fairfield police said the man and an accomplice broke into vehicles in the area around Ann and Nichols streets.
Nazareth Sinclair was apprehended after police said he tried to hide underneath a car in the parking lot of the Stop and Shop on Kings Highway Cutoff. Fairfield police said he had a firearm in his possession, which he also tried to hide under the vehicle.
Sinclair's accomplice has not been identified and remains at-large.

The incident began at about 5:40 a.m., when Fairfield police were notified that two men, on bicycles and wearing masks, had set off car alarms on Ann and Nichols streets. A few hours earlier, police received a similar complaint of two men attempting to break into vehicles in the Penfield Road area.
"Officers responded to the immediate area and did not initially locate anyone," wrote Sgt. Michael Stahl in a statement. "As officers began to expand their search for suspects, they observed two individuals matching the description in the 500 block of Post Road. The subjects were riding bicycles and entered the McDonald’s located at 536 Post Road. A uniformed Fairfield Police Officer attempted to make contact with the subjects inside the restaurant, at which point both males fled on foot out the back door."

Sinclair ran across the street to the Stop and Shop, where he was caught. In addition to the gun, police found cash and personal items on him that linked Sinclair to the thefts from vehicles.
"We commend the swift and diligent actions of our officers in apprehending the suspect, thereby removing a repeat offender and an individual in possession of a firearm from our community," Stahl said. "Their commitment to public safety is exemplary and reflects the dedication of the Fairfield Police Department to serving and protecting our residents."
Sinclair was charged with the following:
- Carrying a pistol without a permit
- Criminal possession of a firearm
- Third-degree burglary
- Fifth-degree larceny
- Interfering with an officer
Additionally, Sinclair was wanted by Fairfield police in connection with an August 2023 vehicle break-in on Kings Highway, where police said he stole a credit card and used it illegally to make purchases from various stores.
For that case, he was charged with:
- Third-degree burglary
- Fifth-degree larceny
- Illegal use of payment card (3 counts)
- Receiving goods from illegal use of payment card
Sinclair was also wanted in Milford for alleged parole violations, and in Stamford for failure to appear in court, according to Fairfield police.
He was held in lieu of bail of $95,000, and is scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court at a later date.
