Suspicious Package Investigation Safely Resolved: Fairfield Police
The suspicious package was found near the intersection of Beacon View Drive and Pine Tree Lane on Friday afternoon.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A Fairfield police investigation of a suspicious package Friday afternoon resulted in a temporary lockdown of a local school, according to authorities.
The package turned out to be a metal pipe, and "nothing of concern," police said in a statement. The pipe was "disposed of properly."
Police conducted the investigation on Beacon View Drive at the intersection of Pine Tree Lane, at about 12:45 p.m. As a precaution, nearby McKinley School was placed on "secure school protocol," officials wrote on Twitter.

Members of the Connecticut State Police Bomb Investigation Unit and the FBI also responded to the scene to assist in the investigation.
"There is no threat to the school community, however, there is a police presence in the area as a result," officials said.

Additionally, Fairfield Warde High School students and staff were advised to avoid the area after dismissal.

On Friday December 9th at approximately 12:45pm the Fairfield Police Department responded to
Beaconview Drive at the intersection of Pine Tree Lane for a report of a suspicious package
found under a US Postal Service mailbox.
As a precaution, McKinley School was placed in a secure school protocol and Warde High
School has been notified to avoid the area after dismissal. There was no threat to the school
community.
Connecticut State Police Bomb Investigation Unit along with the FBI responded to assist
Fairfield Police in this investigation.
The suspicious package was later determined to be a piece of a metal pipe and found to be
nothing of concern. It was subsequently disposed of properly.
