Tax-Free Week Starts Today In Fairfield
Residents can save on back-to-school shopping while also supporting Fairfield retailers that have struggled amid the coronavirus pandemic.
FAIRFIELD, CT — Fairfield businesses are looking forward to Connecticut’s Sales Tax Free Week, which begins Sunday and runs through Saturday.
“This year has been a challenging time for everyone, but especially our many small business owners," Fairfield Director of Economic Development Mark Barnhart said in a town news release. “For those looking to do some back-to-school shopping and take advantage of tax-free savings, it’s important to buy local wherever possible and support our small business community.”
During the one-week sales tax holiday, purchases of most clothing and footwear priced under $100 are exempt from sales and use tax. The exemption applies to each eligible item, regardless of how many of the items are sold to a customer on the same invoice, according to the Connecticut Department of Revenue Services.
