Victim Identified In Fatal Drowning In Fairfield: UPDATE
Emergency crews pulled the unresponsive teen from a pond after drowning and he was rushed to the hospital on Saturday night.

FAIRFIELD, CT — In a Monday night update, Fairfield Police identified the victim in Saturday night’s drowning at Perry’s Mill Pond as Nagee Crowder, 17, of Fairfield. After Crowder was transported to the hospital, resuscitative efforts continued until St. Vincent's medical staff pronounced Crowder dead at 8:10 p.m., according to Lt. Robert Kalamaras.
“Witness accounts stated that several juveniles were swimming in Perry’s Mill Pond,” Kalamaras wrote in a press release. “Crowder was observed jumping into the water off of a paddleboard, and when his friends saw him in distress, they made attempts to help but were unable to save him.”

Kalamaras said the investigation is still active pending cause and manner of death from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
Emergency crews responded to Perry’s Mill Pond, located at 757 Sturges Road, shortly after 6 p.m. Saturday on the report of a possible drowning. Witnesses told the first-arriving fire units they were swimming in the pond when one of their friends could not get to shore and slipped below the water’s surface, according to Assistant Fire Chief Roger Caisse.

“Fire crews immediately began rescue efforts, performing multiple free dives in attempting to locate the victim,” Caisse wrote in a press release on Sunday. “The victim was found submerged in approximately 15 feet of water and was brought to the surface with the assistance of a police diver.”
The teen was pulled from the pond at about 7 p.m. and was unresponsive, according to police. Life-saving efforts were immediately started and he was brought to a waiting AMR ambulance and transported to the hospital.
