Teen Mom Charged with Leaving Baby Alone in Car at Fairfield Stop & Shop: Report
The 18-year-old reportedly told police that she left the vehicle running with the air conditioner on while she quickly ran into the store.

FAIRFIELD, CT — An 18-year-old mother from Bridgeport was charged with leaving her infant son alone in a running minivan while she ran into the Stop & Shop at Villa Avenue on Tuesday morning, according to the Fairfield Citizen.
The Citizen reports Veronica Bartesaghi told police that she was only in the store for a short amount of time and the air conditioning was on inside the minivan.
Bartesaghi was also cited for driving without a license after police discovered that she only had a learner’s permit, according to the Citizen.

Police said the 7-month-old child wasn't injured and the state Department of Children and Families was notified.
The mother was charged with leaving a child under 12 unsupervised in a motor vehicle, according to police.

"The Fairfield Police Department would like to remind the public of the dangers of leaving a child unsupervised and inside of a vehicle, particularly during the summer months," police said in a press release. "To report a child or pet left unsupervised in a motor vehicle, please contact the Fairfield Police Department at (203) 254-4800. In an Emergency, Dial 911."
