Tenant Found For Vacant Victoria's Secret Space In Downtown Fairfield
Fairfield business The Beehive will move to the Post Road storefront. The Beehive's Sanford Street space will soon be home to a distillery.

FAIRFIELD, CT — After being vacant for roughly two years, the former Victoria’s Secret location in downtown Fairfield is set to welcome a new occupant in the coming months.
The retail space at 1499 Post Road will soon be home to interior design studio and decor boutique The Beehive, previously located in the red barn building at 79 Sanford St. The home furnishings shop has already closed its Sanford Street location and is aiming to reopen in June at its new space, while the Sanford Street site will be retrofitted to serve as an office and tasting room for North Carolina-based distillery Next Century Spirits.
Victoria’s Secret closed in 2020, during the early days of the coronavirus pandemic. The store was a corner tenant of the highly visible Fairfield Center building, which borders Sherman Green, and is home to the Fairfield University Bookstore and several other retailers.

“They’ve been interested in that space for a long time,” Community and Economic Development Director Mark Barnhart said of The Beehive. “I think it’s a terrific, terrific move for them.”
The new location will allow The Beehive to expand and provide customers with an enhanced experience, according to a Facebook post from the business.

“We can’t thank you enough for the support and kind words we’ve received and we cannot wait to show you the new space and all of our expanded categories,” The Beehive's management said in a Facebook post.
As for the Sanford Street barn, it will house Next Century Brand Group, a new division of Next Century Spirits that will market the distillery’s brands and partnerships. Next Century will partner with entrepreneurs, celebrities, influencers and industry veterans as part of its brand development, according to a company news release.
“It’s a great use for the site,” Barnhart said. “We’re really looking forward to it.”
