The Pilot House will be offering PATH-International certified riding
therapy just up the road at the beautiful Lion Hill Farm, located on
Sport Hill Road in Easton, CT. The farm offers year-round riding with a
heated indoor dust-free riding ring! There is also an outdoor ring and
beautiful trails.
Therapeutic riding is mounted horseback riding for the purpose of
contributing positively to cognitive, physical, emotional and social
well-being of people with disabilities through teaching of horsemanship
skills.
Benefits of therapeutic riding include:
– promoting strength
– increasing flexibility
– developing balance
– improving coordination
– helping breathing and circulation
– boosting self-confidence
– building self-esteem
We are starting with a 6-week session riding program and a
grooming program to ‘jump-start’ our equine assisted therapies and
activities, while we plan for the future.
The riding program will run in May and June, on Wednesday and
Thursday evenings from 6-8 pm. The lessons are 1/2 hour, so your student
will come at the appointed time and ride.
The cost for the 6-week riding program is $295.00
Some students may need to start with grooming and working with the
horses, and then ease into riding, so we will have a separate program on
Saturday afternoons from 3-4:30.
The cost for the Saturday afternoon grooming program is $325.00
If your child does not participate in the May-June session, there
will be a variety of programs at Lion Hill in the near future, and we
will work very hard to keep up with the needs of our very special
students. Our goal is to work with our staff to design and implement
programs that enhance all of the work already in progress at The Pilot
House, and to maximize the effects of therapeutic riding to improve the
emotional, physical, cognitive, behavioral and social well-being of all
our students.
If you are interested in registering your child for either of these
programs, please fill out the forms below asap and mail them to:
