Timeline Of Rain, Possible Snow Released For Today: CT Weather

And forecasters are already predicting when Connecticut's next snow chance may be. Here are new details concerning the forecast.

CONNECTICUT — It's funny to think we were discussing the chance of accumulating snow today earlier this week as temps will soar into the upper 50s by this afternoon. This means initially just plain rain for everyone in Connecticut, likely beginning after 4 p.m. and continuing through the evening before tapering off early Friday.

Temperatures will nose dive tonight and there is a chance for some wet snowflakes to mix in at the very end, likely around midnight, but no accumulation is expected.

The biggest, most noticeable change will be the temperatures, which will more resemble January on Friday and Saturday with high temps only in the upper 30s to near 40 degrees. There is some improvement on Veteran's Day with temps rebounding into the mid 50s, but then there is a chance for some snow and rain on Tuesday and Wednesday. We'll have to stay tuned for that.

The National Weather Service says rain develops this afternoon.

"The rain may hold off for most of the day for eastern parts of the area. High temperatures will mainly be in the 50s. Winds will shift and temperatures will drop this evening and tonight as the frontal passage occurs. The rain will end from northwest to southeast, with the entire area dry by sunrise Friday. The rain may mix with and change to snow at the very end tonight. The best chances for snow will be away from the coast and at the higher elevations. Temperatures will fall into the 20s and 30s tonight, and struggle to reach 40 on Friday."

WTNH News 8 Chief Meteorologist Gil Simmons says, "Plan on rain moving in today! Umbrella alert. Temperatures will rise into the 50s with a steady rain for the afternoon and evening commute. Colder air comes in tonight and there could be a few wet snowflakes mixed in late tonight when the rain and snow mix ends around midnight. I’m expecting a cold start tomorrow morning with icy patches out there. You need to dress for temperatures that will feel like 20 to 25° tomorrow! Sunny skies tomorrow and Saturday with that cold feel."
