Wilton Cop Fired After Lying About Teen Drinking Party: Report

The officer "did not perform any substantive investigation at the residence where the drinking party was held," according to the report.

WILTON, CT — An officer who was with the Wilton Police Department since 2015 was fired in October for lying about circumstances involving an underage drinking party, the Wilton Bulletin is reporting.

The Wilton Police Commission voted to terminate the employment of Officer Steven Zawacki at a special meeting on Oct. 16, following an internal affairs investigation and a recommendation by Police Chief John Lynch, according to the Bulletin.

The report determined that Zawacki, the officer responding to the complaint about the party in August 2019, did not perform any substantive investigation at the residence where the drinking party was held. Nor did he notify a supervisor about what was going on there, take any enforcement action, or take any steps to ensure the safety of minors who remained at the home.
