Unofficial Vote Tallies Of Fairfield Voters In CT's Primary Election

FAIRFIELD, CT — Turnout was light Tuesday as Fairfield's registered Democrats and Republicans voted in Connecticut's primaries that decided candidates for this fall's election. The unofficial vote tallies are below.

On the ballot in Fairfield on the Democrats side were the candidates running for Secretary of State and state Treasurer. The overall primary winners in the state are in bold.

For Secretary of State, the winner in Fairfield was Stephanie Thomas with 1,494 votes (84.89 percent) over Maritza Bond, who had 266 votes (15.11 percent). On the ballot for state Treasurer, Fairfield Democrats chose Erick Russell with 1,070 votes (60.42 percent) over Dita Bhargava (457 votes, 25.8 percent) and Karen DuBois-Walton (244 votes, 13.78 percent).

Thomas will face Republican Dominic Rapini for Secretary of State in the fall.

In the general election for Treasurer, Russell will face Republican Harry Arora.

Fairfield Republicans had more primary races and more choices on their ballots on Tuesday.

For U.S. Senate, Fairfield Republicans chose Themis Klarides (858 votes, 49.11 percent) over Leora R. Levy (698 votes, 39.95 percent), though Levy was the eventual winner of the primary. Peter Lumaj was a distant third in Fairfield, with 191 votes and 10.93 percent.

Levy will oppose incumbent Democrat Richard Blumenthal in the fall.

Fairfield Republicans also chose a candidate for U.S. Representative in the 4th Congressional District, in which Jayme Stevenson (1,106 votes, 64.53 percent) defeated Michael Ted Goldstein (608 votes, 35.47 percent).

Stevenson will face incumbent Democrat Jim Himes in the fall.

And finally, Fairfield Republicans gave Rapini the victory (1,023 votes, 60.18 percent) over Terrie E. Wood (677 votes, 39.82 percent).
