An update on the local small business Poster's Arts & Crafts

local, small business that sells art supplies heads into winter 2017

A beloved town staple, Posters Arts & Crafts, located at 2353 Black Rock Turnpike, Fairfield, has been providing crafters and artists in Fairfield County with a wide variety of art and craft supplies for nearly forty years. Carrying a little bit of everything from yarn to tie dye materials to seasonal items and actual posterboard it’s a great place to get started on any craft or fine art. Posters also does custom framing. And the staff is experienced helping both the novice and experts.

In 2013 Posters Arts & Crafts had a change of ownership. Rod and Tina Poster retired and sold the business to Alexandra Moutran who came from France with her family. When asked what made you decide to buy Posters, Alexandra said, “Because I always like to do crafts with my kids and I am a painter. Art supplies are appealing to me.” Since the transition the store has been colorfully painted.

Alexandra has kept many of Posters traditional items in stock while bringing a fresh perspective on the latest industry trends and adding a touch of European flavor to the store. One of Alexandra’s favorite crafts is decoupage so the store carries a large selection of paper mache forms and decorative tissue paper. Last year Posters had the opportunity to do a decoupage workshop at Fairfield Woods Library and many people found the craft enjoyable.

Alexandra has also been working with local knitting groups and customers to determine what kinds of yarn and sewing supplies people need. Now the store has Cascade yarn and Bergere de France in addition to Bernat Supervalue and others.

January is Pine Car Derby time and Posters is even helping Girl Scouts get ready for their races this year. Plus the store is helping lots of families do school projects since the school year is in full swing. Very personalized customer service is a hallmark of Posters Arts and Crafts. You can follow the store on FACEBOOK (www.facebook.com/postersartsandcrafts) and sign up for a monthly newsletter to receive more information about products and happenings. Don’t forget to stop in and see Simone, the giant paper mache giraffe, who is back from travels to the Burr Mansion over the holidays.
