Veterans Day Ceremonies Set For Thursday And Friday In Fairfield

Fairfield's two American Legions will host the annual Veterans Day Ceremony on Friday; a concert at FLHS will be held on Thursday evening.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Fairfield will honor its veterans with a concert Thursday evening and ceremonies on the Town Green Friday morning, according to First Selectwoman Brenda Kupchick.

On Thursday beginning at 7:30 p.m., the Fairfield Ludlowe High School's Music Department will present "A Salute to Veterans," A Concert Honoring All Who Have Served.

The free concert, which is open to the public, will be held in the school's Nancy Larsen Auditorium, and it will include patriotic performances by the upper-level band, choir and orchestra ensembles, as well as guest veterans from Lt. Owen Fish Memorial American Legion, Post 143.

On Friday, near the Veterans Wall of Honor at the Town Green (611 Old Post Road), the town's two American Legions will host the annual Veterans Day Ceremony, which is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. The free event will be held rain or shine.

The Eunice Dennie Burr Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will host a light lunch reception after the ceremony outside the Old Academy, 635 Old Post Road, near the Honor Wall and the Old Town Hall.

Veterans planning to attend are asked to wear blue and gray, and Post Commanders should bring unit colors and stand.

And finally, the Kiwanis Club of Fairfield is displaying U.S. flags in honor of veterans at its 6th annual Field of Valor at Jennings Park.

"The Field of Valor will include more than 200 full-size (3'x5') American flags and will be on display to commemorate Veterans Day on November 11th," Kupchick said in a statement. "This display will be created in Jennings Park from November 6th through the 19th."
