Woman Hopes to Open Dog Daycare Business in Fairfield

The Planning and Zoning Commission held a public hearing on the application, which would require the town to amend its zoning regulations.

A proposal to open a dog daycare business in Fairfield has been met with little opposition from neighbors, but in order for it to happen, the town would have to amend its zoning regulations.

The Fairfield Citizen reports the Planning and Zoning Commission held a public hearing Tuesday night on Cheryl Paul’s application to open the business at the site of a former deli on Kings Highway Cutoff. The application includes a zone amendment because dog daycare businesses are not permitted anywhere in town, according to the Citizen.

While residents have supported the proposal for the business, which would be open during the day and is in a commercial zone with no homes nearby, commission members expressed concern about setting a precedent by changing the zoning regulations and potential noise issues with the dogs.
