Young Driver Crashes Into Utility Pole, Knocks Out Power: Fairfield Fire Department
Fairfield firefighters responded to several accidents over the weekend, including two that involved utility poles.
FAIRFIELD, CT — The Fairfield Fire Department responded to several crashes over the weekend, including one Sunday night in which a driver crashed into a utility pole and knocked out power in the area. The crash occurred on Redding Road and there was a localized power outage as a result of the accident, according to fire officials.
“Fortunately, the young driver and his passenger did not suffer any serious injuries,” the fire department said in a post on Facebook. (To sign up for Fairfield breaking news alerts and more, click here.)
Firefighters responded to multiple motor vehicle accidents early Saturday morning. A Burroughs Road incident involved downed “electrified” power lines and a damaged telephone pole, according to officials.

Officials said the driver was hospitalized with minor injuries.
Fairfield firefighters responded to a second accident that occurred during the early morning's driving rain northbound on the Merritt Parkway.

“During that incident, the Westport Fire Department performed a mechanical extrication and two occupants were transported to area hospitals,” fire officials said in a post on Facebook.
