FARMINGTON, CT — A father and son were killed Wednesday night when they fell off a cliff after riding all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) in the old Tilcon quarry on Route 6, according to police.

Around 7:58 p.m., the Farmington Police Department received a 911 call from a man who stated he was riding his ATV with the other two men when they accidentally fell off the cliff in the abandoned quarry, located at 232 Colt Highway. The caller had to escort officers and fire department personnel to the location of the two victims due to the challenging terrain, Lt. Timothy McKenzie said.

The victims were identified as Steven Price, 71, of Forestville, and his son, Mark Price, 30, of Plainville.

According to an eyewitness riding with the Prices, they were each riding an ATV and had stopped prior to the fall. While standing near the edge of an approximately 75-foot-high cliff, both men accidentally fell to their deaths, McKenzie said.

"While this incident appears accidental, detectives from the Farmington Police Department are actively investigating the tragic incident. If anyone has any information to share with investigators, please contact Detective Sergeant Stephen Egan at 860-675-2414," McKenzie said.
