Farmington Firefighters Create 343-Flag Memorial For 9/11 (patch.com) — Farmington residents can visit a powerful 9/11 memorial created by the East Farmington Volunteer Fire Department, featuring 343 flags at 94 South Road. Each flag honors a specific New York City firefighter with a photo, name, rank, and assignment, underscoring the town's commitment to remembering their sacrifice on the attacks' 25th anniversary.
2. Farmington Historical Society Offers Amistad Walking Tours (patch.com subscription) — Farmington residents can join guided Amistad walking tours this fall exploring the town's pivotal role in sheltering freed Mende captives after their Supreme Court victory. Tours run Saturday mornings from Sept. 12 through Oct. 10, start at First Church of Christ on Main Street, have limited capacity, and require advance registration with tiered ticket prices for adults, seniors, and children.
