The University of Connecticut Foundation is pleased to announce the inaugural Women’s Health Breakfast to benefit the Charlotte Johnson Hollfelder Center for Women’s Health at the UConn Health Center. The breakfast will be held on Thursday, October 18 at 8 a.m. at the Pond House Cafe in West Hartford.
The Women’s Health Breakfast is generously supported by presenting sponsor the Petit Family Foundation and leadership sponsor BD Medical – Medical Surgical Systems.
This special event open to the public will bring together leading experts in women’s health to share the latest news in diagnosis, treatment and prevention. This year’s event will focus on cutting-edge breast tomosynthesis, or 3-D mammography, and the latest advances in ovarian cancer treatment and prevention.

Proceeds will benefit the free mammography program for underserved women at the Hollfelder Center for Women’s Health. Tickets cost $25 to attend breakfast; $100 to attend and partially underwrite one free mammogram; and $250 to attend breakfast and fully underwrite one free mammogram.
Peter J. Deckers, MD, professor of surgery and dean emeritus of the UConn School of Medicine, will host. Guest speakers will include eminent physicians Alex Merkulov, MD, assistant professor of radiology and section head for women’s imaging; and Molly A. Brewer, DVM, MD, MS, professor and director of the Division of Gynecologic Oncology. Dr. Brewer is a nationally recognized oncologist specializing in personalized care for ovarian, uterine and cervical cancers, and a leader in ovarian cancer prevention research.
