A crackling fire, roasting chicken, and the season’s root vegetables set the scene for an afternoon exploring Thanksgiving food traditions in colonial New England. Join Dennis Picard, a longtime historic interpreter specializing in traditional cooking, as he prepares chicken, hasty pudding, and roasted root vegetables while sharing stories of a true colonial Thanksgiving. Discover how cooks used open flames, traditional tools, and available ingredients to bring a meal together.
Visitors may attend for part or all of the program between noon and 3:00 p.m. This is an educational demonstration, not a hands-on cooking class or meal. No tastings will be offered. This program is supported in part by a generous gift from a friend of the museum.
