FARMINGTON, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire.
Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic CT
- Eastern Connecticut State University student-athlete Connor Hillemeir of Unionville received the Little East Conference (LEC) men's lacrosse rookie-of-the-week award for the week ending March 11. This is the first LEC award Hillemeir has received in his career. He majors in Business Administration. Hillemier dominated the face-off game in the Warriors' home opener, picking up 16 of 18 attempts in a 13-8 win over Johnson and Wales University. In a 14-8 loss against Whittier College, the freshman won another 10 of his 12 attempts while also scooping up ten ground balls.
Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Worcester MA

- Kaitlyn DaSilva of Farmington, a member of the class of 2019 majoring in mechanical engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), was a member of a student team that recently completed an intense, hands-on research through the WPI project center in Morocco. The project was titled Sale Disability Center. In their project summary, the students wrote, "The goal of this project was to investigate changes to improve physical navigation within the Mohammed VI Center for the Disabled, in Sale, Morocco and enhancements to the center's online website." At WPI, all undergraduates are required to complete a research-driven, professional-level project that applies science and technology to addresses an important societal need or issue.
