Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic CT

  • Eastern Connecticut State University's annual graduation ceremony was held at the XL Center in Hartford on May 16, with more than 12,000 family members and friends cheering on their sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, as 1,180 undergraduates and 58 graduate students received their diplomas. Local graduates were Kaitlyn Lawlor of Farmington, Bachelor of Science in Computer Science; Gavin McIntyre of Unionville, Bachelor of Science in Psychology; Olivia Palen of Farmington,Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education; Megan Styrczula of Unionville, Bachelor of Science in Physical Education; Michael Underwood of Farmington, Bachelor of Science in Mathematics; and Rachel Waters of Unionville, Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences.

  • A pair of Farmington residents have been named to Emerson College's Dean's List for the spring 2017 semester. The requirement to make the Dean's List is a grade point average of 3.7 or higher. Local honorees are Jeremy Stein, a Design/Technology major, and Katharine Rhee, a Journalism major.

Keene State College, Keene NH

  • 1,245 students have been named to the spring 2017 dean's list at Keene State College, including Courtney Bedard of Unionville and William Eisenhauer and Lauren Rossitto of Farmington.

Marist College, Poughkeepsie NY

  • Three local residents graduated from Marist College the weekend of May 19. Katherine Janiszewski of Farmington received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Fashion Design. Shannon Kirkness of Farmington received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. Ethan Turkeltaub of Unionville received a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science.

University of New Hampshire, Durham NH

  • Patricia Marut of Farmington graduated Cum Laude from the University of New Hampshire during the Commencement Ceremony held Saturday, May 20, 2017, on the Durham, NH campus. She earned a BS degree in Occupational Therapy. Students who received the honor of cum laude graduated with a GPA of 3.50-3.64.

Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Worcester MA

  • A pair of local residents were among 1,319 students from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) named to the university's Dean's List for academic excellence for the spring 2017 semester. Ian Shusdock of Farmington is a member of the class of 2017 majoring in computer science. Ryan Rigney of Unionville is a member of the class of 2018 majoring in mechanical engineering. The criteria for the WPI Dean's List differs from most other universities as WPI does not compute a grade point average (GPA). Instead, WPI defines the Dean's List by the amount of work completed at the A level in courses and projects.
  • On Saturday, May 13, on the Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) campus quadrangle, over 1,000 bachelor's degrees were awarded during the university's 149th commencement ceremony. Ian Shusdock of Farmington was awarded a bachelor of science degree in computer science with high distinction. John Mastroianni of Farmington was awarded a bachelor of science degree in industrial engineering with high distinction.
