Campus Notes - Farmington College Students

FARMINGTON, CT — Here are some recent notable achievements for college students from Farmington, as reported by readMedia Newswire.

Emmanuel College, Boston MA

• In honor of their outstanding academic achievement, Emmanuel College has named a select group of students to the Dean's List for the spring 2017 semester. Local honorees are Anthony Buono of Unionville, Sabrina Drezek of Farmington and Alexandra Wilcox of Unionville. To earn a spot on the Dean's List, Emmanuel students must achieve a grade point average of 3.5 or higher for a 16-credit semester.

Grove City College, Grove City PA

• Kevin Kaufman, a Political Science major at Grove City College, has been named to the Dean's List for the spring 2017 semester. Kevin is a 2014 graduate of Farmington Senior High School and is the son of Robert and Lynn Kaufman from Unionville. Students eligible for the Dean's List have a GPA of 3.40 to 3.59; for the Dean's List with Distinction a GPA of 3.60 to 3.84 and for the Dean's List with High Distinction a GPA of 3.85 to 4.0.

James Madison University, Harrisonburg VA

• Farmington resident Kyle Stephen Sopelak has been named to the dean's list at James Madison University for the spring 2017 semester. Students who earn dean's list honors must carry at least 12 graded credit hours and earn a GPA of between 3.5 and 3.899. Sopelak is scheduled to graduate in 2019 and is majoring in math.

Lasell College, Newton MA

• Lasell College recently named Kendall Allerton of Unionville to the Dean's List for the spring 2017 semester. Allerton, whose major is Undeclared Option, is a member of the class of 2020. To achieve the academic honor of being named to the Dean's List, a student must be full-time carrying 12 or more graded credits for the semester with a grade point average of 3.5 or above.

Lehigh University, Bethlehem PA

• Dean's List status, which is awarded to students who earned a scholastic average of 3.6 or better while carrying at least 12 hours of regularly graded courses, has been granted to Lee Estrellado of Farmington in the spring 2017 semester.

Mansfield University, Mansfield PA

• Kiran Ishaq of Unionville has been named to the Mansfield University President's List and Dean's List for the spring 2017 semester. To be named to the President's List, a student must attend the university full-time and attain at least a 4.0 QPA for the semester. To be named to the Dean's List, a student must be attending the university full-time and attain at least a 3.5 GPA for the semester.

University of Hartford, West Hartford CT

• Three Farmington residents were among the approximately 1,000 graduates who received their degrees at the University of Hartford's Undergraduate Commencement on Sunday, May 21: Samantha Leary, a painting major in the University's Hartford Art School, received a Bachelor of Fine Arts; Andrew Ouellette, a history major in the University's College of Arts and Sciences, received a Bachelor of Arts; and Sean Kraut, a mechanical engineering major in the University's College of Engineering, Technology, and Architecture, received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.

University of the Sciences, Philadelphia PA

• Jessica Mercadante of Unionville was among the graduates recognized during University of the Sciences' 196th commencement celebration on Wednesday, May 24, 2017, in Philadelphia. Mercadante graduated magna cum laude with a doctor of pharmacy degree. She was a member of Rho Chi, National Honor Society of Pharmacy. She received the Leonard M. Krusinski '61 Memorial Prize given to a worthy student intent on a career as an independent community pharmacist.
