FARMINGTON, CT — One of the town's most anticapted autumn events will take place Sunday, Oct. 23, in the form of Farmington's annual Fall Festival & Moonlight Movie.

The event, hosted by the Town of Farmington Community and Recreational Services Department, aims to take advantage of that fall chill that dominates evenings in New England.

It starts on the grounds of the Staples House (near Farmington Town Hall and the Farmington Public Library) at 2 Monteith Drive, Farmington, at 4:30 p.m. Sunday.

All sorts of autumn and Halloween-theme activities are planned, with free cider and doughnuts for all.

Other activities planned are a kid's dance party with "DJ Red Supreme," a costume contest (winners announced at 6 p.m.), pumpkin decorating and food and musical performances.

It all concludes at 6:10 p.m. with an outdoor showing of the Halloween classic "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown."

Guests are asked to bring lawn chairs and blankets to combat the fall temperatures expected.

In addition to the town, the event is being supported by the Unionville Village Improvement Association, Highland Park Market and New Horizon Village senior apartments.

Admission to the fun is free with a food donation to the local food pantry.
