Farmington To Celebrate Its New Town Hall Later This Week

FARMINGTON, CT — Farmington officials will officially celebrate the opening of the town’s new Farmington Town Hall with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and public open house on Thursday, May 14.

The event will take place at the renovated 1928 Building at 20 Monteith Drive.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled from 6 to 6:30 p.m., followed by guided tours and an open house from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Town officials said the event will allow residents to explore the restored building and learn how the former school facility has been adapted for municipal use.

The project stems from voter approval in May 2023 of a $16 million plan to renovate the 1928 section of the former Farmington High School into a new town hall.

Town departments relocated to the building last February.

The Farmington Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously approved a special permit application for the renovation project in March 2025.

The 1928 Building is the last remaining portion of the original Farmington High School after the town opened a new $145 million high school campus in August 2024.

Officials said residents who purchased donor bricks, souvenir bricks, or donor certificates through the project fundraiser will be able to pick up those items during the event.

Additional instructions have also been sent directly to purchasers.

Registration for the ribbon-cutting event is encouraged, though not required, to help the town estimate attendance.
