Farmington Election Results 2018: Winners Declared

Residents elected a new governor and also cast ballots on key local and state races and a U.S. Senate seat.

FARMINGTON, CT — Voters in Farmington have apparently returned a quartet of incumbents to represent them in Hartford, as voters turned out in droves Tuesday despite the rainy weather.

U.S. Rep. Elizabeth Esty did not seek re-election for her 5th District seat. With 79 percent of precincts reporting, Democrat Jahana Hayes had tallied 116,036 votes to 90,567 for Republican Manny Santos.

In the state Senate 5th District, Democratic incumbent Beth Bye more than doubled the vote total of Republican challenger Phillip Chabot. With 14 of 16 precincts reporting, Bye had 26,728 votes to 12,667 for Chabot.

The 6th District state Senate incumbent, Democrat Terry Bielinski Gerratana, defeated Republican challenger Robert Smedley, 17,081 votes to 10,203.

In the state House of Representatives, incumbent Democrat Derek Slap ran unopposed in District 19, as did Judge of Probate Evelyn M. Daly. Incumbent Democrat Mike Demicco retained his District 21 seat in the General Assembly, collecting 6,025 votes to 4,718 for Republican challenger Chris Forster.
