Farmington Food Drive Saturday A Wild Success: Food Pantry

FARMINGTON, CT — The numbers are in, and the results couldn't have made folks with the Farmington Food Pantry any happier.

That's because Saturday's annual 'Stamp Out Hunger' food drive brought in more than 7,790 pounds of donated food for the Farmington Food Pantry, according to the organization.

The Farmington Food Pantry announced the results Sunday, May 10, following the nationwide food drive held the previous day.

During the event, local letter carriers with the U.S. Postal Service collected nonperishable food donations left by residents near their mailboxes.

In a statement posted Sunday, the pantry thanked residents and postal workers for their support.

“The Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive was a huge success,” the organization said. “Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, over 7,790 pounds of food were collected to support the Farmington Food Pantry.”

The pantry also recognized local letter carriers for collecting and delivering donations and thanked town residents for their contributions.

“Your kindness and support will help ensure our neighbors have access to food in the months ahead,” the statement said.

The annual drive is organized nationally by the National Association of Letter Carriers and supports local food pantries through community donations.
