Farmington Obituary: Christopher Cyr, Jr., 79

Condolences to his family and friends.

Christopher E. “June” Cyr, Jr., of Broad Brook, formerly of Farmington, beloved husband of Rita Cyr, died Wednesday September 30, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital.

Christopher was born on October 22, 1935 in Madawaska, ME and moved to Connecticut as a young man to seek employment opportunities. In 1959 he met his future wife, Rita and the happy couple coincidentally married on his birthday in 1960. June was a funny, social, and outgoing person who loved hosting parties, country music, singing, and dancing at the French Club. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, watching NY Yankees games, and joking with friends. He was active in the Lions Club in Unionville and was a Knight of Columbus, 3rd Degree. He retired from Connecticut Spring & Stamping in 1996 after many rewarding years of service.

June leaves behind his wife, Rita (Maiden) Cyr, of Broad Brook; two sons, Brian Cyr and his wife Maria and Kevin Cyr and his wife Nancy; two brothers, Alphy Cyr and his wife Viola and Edward Deschaine; four grandchildren, Christopher, Joshua, Brittney, and Zachary as well as many nieces and nephews, both in Connecticut and Maine. June was predeceased by three sisters, Priscilla Deschaine, Marie Beaudry, Patricia Carrier and two brothers, Freeman Cyr and Maurice Cyr.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m., Monday (Oct. 5) at St. Joseph Church, 1747 Poquonock Ave., Windsor with burial following in St. Joseph Cemetery, Poquonock. His family will receive friends on Monday from 9 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at Carmon Poquonock Funeral Home, 1816 Poquonock Ave., in the Poquonock Section of Windsor.
