
Christos George Koutsoukos, 97, beloved husband and soul mate of the late Panayiota (Williams) Koutsoukos passed away after a brief illness on Wednesday, August 31st, 2016 surrounded by his loving family.
Born on April 17, 1919 in Platanos Aigialeias, Greece, he was the third of eight children born to the late George and Marguerita (Andrikopoulou) Koutsoukos. Christos was a proud Greek Army Veteran, serving in WWII and secretly for the Greek Resistance. At a young age, along with his father, Christos tended to the family business which consisted of sheep and goat herding and vine and oil cultivation. Prior to immigrating to the United States, Christos also served as Mayor of Paralia Platanou, Aigialeias.
Christos immigrated to the United States in 1956 where he met Panayiota and they married in 1957. They made their home in Bloomfield for 13 years and later moved to West Simsbury. Christos worked as a meat cutter for many of the meat packing companies and later went into the Pizza/Restaurant business in Bloomfield, Simsbury, and Farmington.

Faith, Church and family were very important to him. He was parishioner of St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral and served on the Parish Council. After retirement, Christos could be found in the kitchen at festival time, luncheons and Lenten suppers and for many years, and cooking Thanksgiving Dinner for the residents of AHEPA Home. He was a member of the St. George Senior Citizens and AHEPA. Christos and Panayiota loved to travel to the Caribbean and especially home to Greece.
He is survived by his loving and devoted daughter Ourania (Nita) Koutsoukos, Maria Baziotis, and "Louie"(beloved Morkie) of West Simsbury, his brother John G. Koutsoukos of Brussels, Belgium and by many nieces and nephews globally who he loved dearly. He was predeceased by his siblings Konstantinos G. Koutsoukos, Helen Mackis, Alexios G. Koutsoukos, Erene Koumatos, Eugenia Belales, and Argiro Kotta.

The family would like to thank the 2nd floor nursing staff at UConn John Dempsey Hospital for their remarkable care and compassion which will never be forgotten.
The funeral will be Tuesday, September 6, 11 a.m. at St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 433 Fairfield Ave, Hartford, 06114 with the Rev. Dr. George Zugravu officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Visiting hours will be prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. at the church.
