Farmington Obituary: Daniel Gresh, 84

Daniel B. Gresh, 84, husband of the late Dorothy M. Gresh, passed away quietly on Tuesday, April 19, 2016.

Born in Unionville on August 22, 1931, son of the late Andrew G. and Catherine (Valigorsky) Gresh. He proudly retired as a Unionville “Mailman” where he walked his route for 31 years. Dan started his postal career on the USS Yellowstone during the Korean War. He lived most of his life in the Unionville area except for a brief period where he and his wife of 31 years retired to Dixfield, ME. They moved back to Connecticut in 1995 where Dan lovingly cared for his wife during a long and terminal illness.

Dan’s hobbies included woodworking, Mexican and Civil War history where he joined the CT Civil War Roundtable and golden age classic movies. He collected movies over most of his adult life and accumulated a movie library of 1000s. His knowledge of classic movies was second to none.

Dan is survived by his three step-sons, Rick and Wanda Arborio of Hamden, Ron and Mary Arborio of Buxton, ME, Randy Arborio of Burlington, daughter-in-law Karen Arborio of Bondsville, MA, 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and his brother, Paul Gresh of Plantsville. He was predeceased by his three brothers, John Gresh, William (Marty) Gresh, and Michael Gresh.

Funeral services and burial will be private.
