
Josephine Konopka, a long-time resident of Burlington, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2016, just one month shy of her 100th birthday.
She was born in Plymouth, PA to Joseph and Katherine (Kohan) Zionce. Josephine worked for Chas. W. House, Ensign Bickford and Crewel by Cathy. She was an expert seamstress, doll maker, knitter and crocheter. She loved cooking for her family and was known for her turkey dinners (best stuffing ever), her pierogis and golumpkis.
She was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church in Collinsville and an honorary member of the Womens’ Guild. She had been a Registrar of Voters in Burlington, a Girl Scout Leader and was a big fan of UConn Husky Basketball and Penn State Football.

Josephine left her home in Burlington to spend two enjoyable years at The Gables/Brookdale in Farmington before moving to “Memory Lane” at Touch Points of Farmington. A special thanks to the caring people on A Wing, both the day team and night team, for the wonderful care they gave our mom.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Lynn Konopka and her daughter, Charlotte Edkin, all of Farmington. She is also survived and will be missed by her four granddaughters, Hallie Niedzwiecki and husband Daniel, Marianne Anastasia and husband Peter, Linda Ingvertsen and husband Robert and Laura Dutil and husband Kenneth and her nine great grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly, Robert and Nora Niedzwiecki, Caroline and Madeline Anastasia, Drew, Emma and Erik Ingvertsen and Elton and Kathryn Dutil. She also leaves her brother-in-law, John Kostrisak and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 72 years, Bennie Konopka, her son-in-law, Dr. Robert Edkin; four brothers, Stanley, Edward, John and Walter Zionce and her sister, Jennie Kostrisak.
