Farmington Obituary: Lucille Shearer, 70

Condolences to her family and friends.

Lucille D. (D’Amico) Shearer, 70, of Songbird Lane in Farmington died unexpectedly at her home Saturday August 26, 2017.

Born December 13, 1946 in Waterbury she was the eldest daughter of Florio (Phil) D’Amico and Lucille (Dube) D’Amico.

She is survived by her daughter Sandra Ticino of Laurinburg, NC and son-in law Tom McColl, her son Michael Sochin and his wife Angela of Chandler, AZ, her grandson Joshua (Maggie) McColl and three granddaughters Deidre McColl, Julia Sochin and Abigail Sochin. She is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren Emma, Ethan, Corrine, Jude and Sophia, her two brothers James D’Amico of Smithfield, NC, Bruce (Sandra) D’Amico of Waterbury, VT, two sisters, Judy (William) May of Middlesex, VT and Rose (Greg) Pelchuck of Calais, VT. She is also survived by her step-mother Dolores D’Amico of Avon as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, countless friends and extended family. She was pre-deceased by both her parents and one brother Philip D’Amico.

Although Lucille grew up in Waterbury and Wolcott she was a longtime resident of the Farmington area. She was active in her community most notably with the General Federation of Women’s Clubs of CT more specifically the Farmington Valley Woman’s Club and the Farmingbury Woman’s Club where she held many local and state offices. Lucille was also a fierce advocate for and had utmost respect for our Veterans. She was instrumental in the establishment of the Veteran’s OASIS at Tunxis Community College specifically designed to give respite and support to Veterans attending Tunxis.

Friends may call at The Ahern Funeral Home, 111 Main St., Rt. 4, Unionville on Thursday August 31, 2017 from 11a.m. to 1p.m. with a Prayer Service in the funeral home at 1:00pm. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury.
