Farmington Obituary: Manuel Rivera, Jr., 23

Condolences to his family and friends.

Manuel (Manny) A. Rivera Jr., 23, of Burlington, left this world on Sunday, June 18, 2017.

Manny was born on March 29, 1994 in New York City, New York and was a longtime resident of Farmington. He attended Farmington Public Schools and was a line cook at The Tap Rock in Unionville.

Manny was a free spirit who enjoyed the outdoors, nature, music, and sitting around a fire with friends. He was passionate about many things, but none as much as the love of his life and best friend, Amber, and his “Mini me” son Louis Cypher.

Manny is survived by his soulmate Amber Marie Nogiec, their son Louis, parents Manuel Rivera and Iris Soto, paternal grandparents, Sylvestre Manuel Rivera and Lydia Esther Fuentes, of Puerto Rico, brother Andrew of Vernon, sister Amanda of Farmington, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, and an endless circle of friends. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents Serafin Soto and Ana Maria Hernandez.

“I am no master, I know nothin’, definitely still young, built on hunger so stubborn a lot of self-work undone.” Manny would agree that these Nahko Bear lyrics suit him well. Manny had a way of being incredibly outgoing while staying humble. He made such a positive impact of the lives of so many people that it is truly incredible. Though this is a sad time those closest to him are glad that he has finally found peace.

Friends may call at The Ahern Funeral Home, 111 Main St., Rt. 4, Unionville on Friday, June 23, 2017 from 5-8pm.

In lieu of flowers, Manny’s family asks that you consider a donation to a college fund for his son Louis. Also, Manny’s favorite color was lime green and it would be appreciated if something of that color was worn to the service in honor of Manny.
