Farmington Water Main Flushing on Tap
Utility officials have posted the area flushing slate.

Connecticut Water Company is flushing its water mains in Avon and Farmington. Routine flushing helps to maintain water quality by scouring the inside of the water mains and allows the Company to assess the condition of fire hydrants.
Day time flushing operations between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, are scheduled in Avon and Farmington through May 5, utility officials said. The flushing schedule may be changed due to hazardous weather or unscheduled water system maintenance, they said.
During water main flushing it is possible that some customers may experience pressure fluctuations, officials said. Flushing may also stir up harmless sediment that can cause discolored water, officials said.

The discolored water should clear within a few hours, officials said. While experiencing discolored water, customers should avoid using their washing machine, dishwasher, or other water using devices. Customers should call Connecticut Water at 1-800-286-5700 if discolored water persists for more than a few hours, officials said.
