FARMINGTON, CT — One of Hartford county's most opulent properties once owned by music icon 50 Cent is now featured on a "worthless" mansion list.

In an October story, Moneywise called it one of 25 mega mansions that "just won't sell."

Former world heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson also owned the nearly 50,000-square-foot digs at one time.

The last time we checked in on the compound was in August 2020 when it was listed as a rental property for about $50,000 per month.

A Florida-based businessman purchased the estate for $2.9 million in April, 2019. That's about half the asking price of $4.995 million at the time.

It had been on the market for $18.5 million in 2007. Curtis James Jackson III, 50 Cent himself, once lamented over maintenance costs he said were about $67,000 per month and annual taxes totaling $120,000.

The mansion features:

  • A full-size basketball court that resembles a rich person's version of Rucker Park in Harlem
  • An indoor pool and hot tub
  • A night club
  • A casino
  • An indoor racquetball court
  • Multiple game rooms
  • A billiards room
  • A "full gym"
  • A conference room
  • A home theater

The grounds feature a "coy-filled pond" [sic] with a pond house and the pool "comes with a grotto," according to the listing. Guest houses are also scattered about the property.
