Governor Mao Loy would say Semantic Progression, Sovereign Citizens would say LYING!

One of the most successful on-going Marketing Campaigns of human history is the re-branding of Socialism / Communism / Collectivisms of all stripes as Progressive!  After all, who doesn't like progress [well only those reactionary, racist, homophobic, misogynistic, knuckle dragging, cousin kiss'en, PBR swill'en Fuddy Duddies in tricorner hats who want to Conserve the Enlightenment principles enshrined in our Constitution that man [yeah I know humans] can govern themselves - but I digress]! The success is not only about the re-branding, it is also about the absolute failure to identify or be held accountable for WHERE IT IS THAT WE ARE PROGRESSING TOWARDS? WHAT IS THE ULTIMATE GOAL OR DESTINATION? But again I digress from my main point!

One of the tools in the Progressive "Hope and Change" tool box that is used almost daily is the redefinition of words.  This Semantic Progression helps Progressive build their much valued Sheeple consensus.  

• Sheeple hear increased revenue they think that they are support "increased sales in the private sector" but they are actually supporting "higher Taxes".  
• Sheeple hear "voluntary contributions from individuals who are happy to belong to a union and agree with all actions the union takes" but they are actually supporting "the state using its coercive power to extorted time and money from citizens as a condition of employment."
  
• Sheeple think that "equal under the law means that each individual has the same rights and responsibilities but actually it means that we must have reparations for past sins as defined by ruling elites and that all outcomes must be the same regardless of skill, experience, or effort."
• Sheeple think that "salvation is an individual achievement between them and their Savior or other Deity but no it is the result of social justice and must be achieved collectively [collective salvation] - we are all saved or no one is saved".

The list could go on and on but today I would like to focus on the meaning of the words spoken by Govern Mao Loy and quoted by Christopher Keating and Daniela Altimari of the Hartford Courant in their May 29th story entitled Clash Over Budget Deal; namely "We're fully funding pensions".  According to  the CT Mirror the state's unfunded pension liability is nearly 42 billion dollars.   Let me say that again $42 billion and for a point of reference this year Governor Mao Loy has requested a biennial budget of $43.8 billion so we are project to own the state's pension plan about the same amount of money as the state will spend on everything it will do for the next two years. Outrageous!  IMHO we will never be able to fully pay our promises to retired unionized state employees.

In no sane universe can a $42 billion debt for promises made in the past be called fully funded.  We are pretending this debt doesn't exist so we do not have to raise taxes to pay for the outrageously rich promises that were made to Unionized state employees.  In no sane universe could a governor make such a claim to reputable reporters without being called to task for the falsity of his statement unless [the reporters are indictable co conspirators or] the definition of "FULLY FUNDED" has changed.  

Yes I know, I know, for the purposes of CT Budgeting and Sheeple Calming, fully funded is now defined as the fact that we made a payment to the pension plan.  It no longer matters how big or sufficient the payment was.  We made a deposit into the pension account so back off Tea Bagger, it is now fully funded - by definition! Maybe we should ask True the Vote to start a True the Budget or True the Pension once they are done with their IRS and FBI investigations?

By any objective measure, the Governor Lied, the Hartford Courant repeated his lie without challenging him [which in my book is the same as lying] and the Sheeple swallowed the Governor's lie because they read it in the newspaper! Wake up.  Don't take my word for it, do your own research.  We are going broke.  The Governor and the CGA keep taxing, spending, going deeper into debt and they keep getting re elected! Now that's Progressive!
