How Last Fall's Champions Are Faring in 2017
Each of last year's 22 state titlists in field hockey, football, soccer and volleyball has a shot at repeating this fall, theoretically.
With half of last year's high school cross country championship teams winning at least a second consecutive title Saturday, Patch decided to take a look at the possible repeat champions in field hockey, football, boys and girls soccer and girls volleyball.
At least three divisions will have a new titleholder due to the advancement in class of last year's winners: Class M football (Hillhouse), Class M boys soccer (Brookfield) and Class M girls soccer (co-champion Notre Dame-Fairfield).
Here are last fall's 22 champions or co-champions in those five sports, with record through Oct. 29, current seed and regular season games remaining. Click the class prefixes for up-to-date rankings.
