Man, 21, Charged In Crash That Killed Teen, 17: Farmington Police
The accused is charged with first-degree manslaughter and driving a motor vehicle while under the influence, police said.

FARMINGTON, CT — A 21-year-old Farmington resident has been charged with first-degree manslaughter in connection with a motor vehicle crash that ended in the death of Luke Roux, 17, of Farmington, police said Thursday.
Jacob Coffey was arrested by the Farmington Police Department on Aug. 17 for his involvement in a fatal motor vehicle accident on June 25, police said.
"Investigators from the North Central Municipal Accident Reconstruction Squad determined Coffey was speeding while traveling west on Colt Highway when he ran a red light and hit a vehicle driven by 17-year-old Luke Roux of Farmington," police said in a news release. "Investigators also found Coffey had an elevated blood alcohol content at the time of the crash. Coffey was released on a $250,000 bond and his court date is August 23rd, 2022, at Hartford Superior Court."

His charges are:
- Manslaughter in the 1st degree
- Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence
- Reckless Driving
- Red Light Violation
- Speeding greater than 60 mph
