Warm evening temps were contrasted by cool sounds at Hill-Stead Museum in Farmington.
Warm evening temps were contrasted by the cool sounds of the 11-piece horn band Ol' Skool and verses from Sunken Garden Poetry Prize, first place winner, Patricia Hale and acclaimed poet and essayist Tony Hoagland at Hill-Stead Museum.
Wednesday evening, visitors traveled from far and wide to gather in Farmington for Opening Night of the 2011 Sunken Garden Poetry Festival series. The five-part series brings a "diverse and remarkable group of poets and musicians to Hill-Stead" and showcases their talents live and free of charge to all who attend. Along with the music and poetry, guests had the opportunity to purchase food & drinks from local businesses as well signed copies of the poet's collections.
The series continues on June 22 followed by dates of July 6, July 20 and August 3. For more information on the Sunken Garden Poetry Festival visit www.hillstead.org.
