Part of Route 4 Closed in Farmington: UPDATED

An accident knocked down a light pole, necessitating the road closure, according to police. BREAKING

FARMINGTON, CT — A segment of Farmington Avenue (Route 4) is closed between Brickyard Road and West Avon Road (Route 167) due to an accident, police said.

A car crashed into a utility pole in the area around 11:30 a.m. A detour is in place using Brickyard Road and Route 167, Lt. Patrick Buckley said.

There were minor injuries in the crash, and the road is expected to be closed for several hours until the utility pole can be stabilized or repaired. The vehicle is in the process of being removed, and crews are on scene addressing the utility pole, Buckley said.

Around 1:45 p.m., one lane was opened to alternating traffic, and public safety officials said they expect the roadway to remain that way until late afternoon.
