State Police Step-up Traffic Enforcement for Holidays
Police so far have seen more than 200 accidents and handed out more than 500 infraction tickets.

State Police responded to more than 200 accidents and gave out more than 500 tickets between Dec. 19 and midnight on Dec. 26.
The department responded to 209 accidents, 33 of which had reported injuries and one with a fatality, according to Lt. J. Paul. Vance, police spokesman
Tropers handed out 541 hazardous moving violations, which covers things like following too close, cell phone violations and distracted driving. There were 202 infractions for speeding and 11 for not wearing seatbelts.

“Troopers have observed a high traffic volume over this Christmas holiday,” Vance said. “This State Police enforcement effort will continue as we approach the New Year Eve Holiday Celebration. Troopers will continue to conduct enforcement patrols throughout the state on both highways and secondary roads.”
