Weekly Recap: 4/12-4/15

Wednesday, April 12
Varsity Golf vs. Choate: L 2-3

Recap: Despite falling to Choate Porter's played a strong opening round. Sewon Lim '18 won 5-4 and Gabrielle Brewer '19 won 5-0. Caroline Palmer '19 lost, but only by two strokes overall, and Isa Zamarripa Zercovitz'17 lost ony by 3 strokes overall. Siobhan Buckley '17 match also was close, as they played to the 7th hole.

Varsity Lacrosse vs. Williston Northampton: L 1-16

Varsity Softball vs. Pomfret: W 8-4

Recap: Teamwork led Porter's Varsity Softball team to their second win of the season as they defeated Pomfret 8 - 4. While Porter's took an early one run lead in the top of the first, Pomfret answered with two runs in the bottom. Both sides were held scoreless through the next three innings. Porter's took the lead in the top of the 5th inning when Jenna Hall '20 reached first, she was moved over when Gaelen Carroll '18 put the ball into play and both were sent home off of a hard hit ball by Hannah Zukowski '17. Zukowski '17 then scored on an RBI hit by Maya Silva-Thompson '17. Porter's posted 2 more runs in the 6th, starting with Natalie Brennan '20 hitting a single. Charlotte Whalen '20, Julianna Diamantis '20 and Hall '20 all got on base with Whalen and Diamantis scoring the runs. Pomfret answered with two runs in the inning as well. Jessica Sardilli '19 started with 7th inning with a walk, was moved over to 2nd when De'Jah Jennings '17 hit the ball hard and then scored off of the bat of Whalen. Brennan also scored in the inning when Diamantis hit the ball hard again. Porter's retired Pomfret in the bottom of the 7th inning to win the game.
