Varsity Softball vs. Ethel Walker: L 0-12

Recap: Porter's was able to get runners on base several times against the always strong Ethel Walker team...but crossing the plate just did not happen in this loss. Gaelen Carroll '18 hit the ball hard in the first inning with a single to post a threat, she was unable to score as the Walker's team retired the next two batters in order. Maya Silva-Thompson '17 added a single in the 4th, allowing Hannah Zukowski '17 to move to third after stealing 2nd, but again we were unable to cross the plate before the side was retired. Natalie Brennan '20 was the final Porter's player to reach 1st on a single, in the 7th inning, but the offense was then stopped ending the game in a shut-out.Walker's offense kept Porter's defense on their toes from the first inning on. Jenna Hall '20 had a great day at short-stop as the battery did everything they could to keep the ball in the zone but away from the Walker's bats. Charlotte Whalen '20 took left field in the fifth inning just in time to see some action and make a great catch.

Varsity Ultimate vs. Northfield Mt. Hermon: L 6-14

Recap: Our athletes were focused, determined, and quick to give support and feedback to their teammates during our second game against NMH. We began the game strong with 2 quick points against NMH, but struggled to keep up with NMH after they scored each successive point. Although a tough loss, we should be proud of the way our players carried themselves and paid attention to every play. Maya Butensky '18 was sorely missed during this game, but Bryn Mathews '18, Olivia Luppino '18, Sonali Butensky '19, and Caroline Courcey '18 kept driving the disc to the end zone. Clara Landon '19 did an excellent job assisting, Meg Conner '19 had some excellent catches, Angela Madden '19 practiced strong defense and Lilli Aferzon '19 pushed herself to the limits trying to make some really difficult catches. Gabby Aucello '19 came out with a fighting spirit and scored a beautiful point midway through the game. Edivane Palanga '17 did a great job playing defense in smacking the frisbee and covering her player. Overall it was a great performance for Porter's Ultimate.
