Varsity Softball vs. Choate: W 16-3

Recap: After a slow start, Porter's Varsity Softball team posted 16 runs in their win against Choate during their home opener. Jenna Hall '20, Maya Silva Thompson '17, Gaelen Carroll '18, De'Jah Jennings '17, Juliana Diamantis '20 and Charlotte Whalen '20 all had singles in the win. Hannah Zukowski '17 was patient at the plate, walking twice and then getting a hold of the perfect pitch for a homerun. Porter's battery of Jessica Sardilli '19 and Zukowski was strong in this first game of the season, retiring 7 Choate playes via strikeouts. Hall stepped onto the field in the shortstop position to play solid defense. This team came together quickly with all players contributing in the win.

Varsity Softball vs. Deerfield: L 4-10

Recap: The final score of a game does not always tell the true story of the game. That was exactly the case in the Porter's 10 - 4 loss to Deerfield, it was a much closer game than the score appears. Porter's took the lead early in the first inning when Catcher Hannah Zukowski '17 hit a two run homerun, scoring Jenna Hall '20 who lead the inning with a walk. Gaelen Carrol '18 continuted the inning with a beautiful double but was unable to score in the inning. Deerfield answered with a single run and the score stayed Porter's 2 Deerfield 1 through the first two innings. Deerfield moved ahead in the bottom of the thrid only to have it tied up again in the top of the fifth. Porter's was held scoreless in the last two innings while Deerfield was able to put 6 runs in the book in those two innings. It was a well faught game from both sides of the field.

Varsity Tennis vs. Williston Northampton: W 8-1

Recap: Porter's varsity team played very well this afternoon,in a match that saw many extended rallies and close games. Diane Lin '17 and Alex Wagner '17 at #3 doubles had a very close match, with a set that lasted over an hour. Porter's improves to 2-0 with a win over Williston.
